Surrogacy presents a number of terms most people might not be familiar with. Here is a short list and definition of those terms as we come across them during our journey.
Altruistic Surrogacy -- When a surrogate is only compensated for the direct costs related to the surrogacy.
Commercial Surrogacy -- Paying a woman to bear a child for intended parents above and beyond the direct costs related to the pregnancy.
Intended Parent -- Someone seeking to contract surrogacy in order to be a parent. Hence, they Intend to be a Parent.
IVF -- In Vitro Fertilization. Basically, it's the mixing of sperm and eggs in a petri dish, which fertilizes the eggs, and waiting for them to grow for ten days.
